Black-Eyed Susan #2

Plant: rough-hairy biennial or short-lived perennial 30-100 cm tall.
Leaves: 5-17cm long, ovate to narrowly oblong, with winged stalks; upper leaves stalkless.
Flower heads: Orange-yellow, 5-10cm across, with 10-20 orange to golden yellow strap-like florets around a dark purple to brown, 1.2-2cm wide hemisphere or cone of tubular florets; 1 to few flower heads.
Blooms: June t September
Fruits: seed-like achenes
Habitat: open, often disturbed sites
Distribution: central North America; naturalized from Newfoundland to BC to Mexico.
